Wafu Okara Hamburger Steak

Wafu Hamburger Steak with okara is a tasty Japanese-style hamburger patty made with soy pulp, and it's really delicious! The addition of okara makes it even more soft and juicy, enhancing the overall flavor and texture.


8 Hamburg steaks


  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 tbsp sake
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp kombu powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 onion



1. Chop the onion.

2. Soak 40g okara powder in 160ml of water in a bowl.


3. Add chopped onion, 400g of minced meat, 2 eggs, Kombu powder, dried okara powder, salt, and pepper to the bowl.


4. Mix everything together.

5. Put oil in the pan, shape the mixture into patties. Grill each side for 4-5 minutes over medium heat. You can form approximately 8 patties.

6. Grill one chopped onion using the remaining oil in the pan until it turns brown. If it's not enough, you can add more oil or butter.

7. Add soy sauce, mirin, sake, sugar, lemon juice, and Kombu powder.

8. Pour the sauce over the patties.
